Entry Fees

Cross-Country Teams

• $60 for school teams with 5 runners
  
  
• $8 for each additional runner
  (Must receive each team member’s registration in the same envelope.)

Registration

Early registration must be post-marked by Thursday, October 16, 2008.
Race day registration ends at 8:30 am for the 5K and The Stroll.

The 5K Course

Description

The first mile goes downhill on East Main then takes a left up Azalea Lane to Green Mountain Drive to the School Board Office. The second mile makes a loop around School Circle back out Green Mtn. Drive then turns left onto N. Main back to the Square then heads downhill on W. Main. The third mile continues down W. Main to a right turn onto Robertson Street to the Community Building turn around, comes back out Robertson Street and back up West Main to the finish line on the Square.

T-Shirts

Long-sleeve T-shirts are guaranteed to pre-registered participants and while supplies last for late and race day entries.

Awards

Awards will be presented as soon as results are calculated. Presentations will take place on the Town Square. Awards will be given to the top two overall male and female finishers, the top two overall male and female masters finishers, and the first 3 finishers in each age group. Age groups are: 12& under, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-70,70 & over.

No multiple awards will be given.

• Packet Pick Up and Race Day Registration:
  The Burnsville Town Center on South Main Street! [map].
  Packets will be available from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

  In front of Town Hall on West Main Street [map]

  In the Town Center and at Chamber of Commerce Office Building near the starting line

The Fall Foliage Stroll (5K Route)

The Fall Foliage Stroll is being done to promote fitness for our school students and our community. The Yancey County Schools Foundation recognizes walking as a great form of exercise and encourages participants to come out and enjoy a beautiful walk in the crisp October air!! Walkers will start behind the runners. Trophies will be given to the Yancey County School with the most participants.

Here are some other information about the Scamper and Stroll:

• Water will be provided on the 5K course.
  
  
• Food and drinks will be provided after the race.
  
  
• Great crowd support and music along the course!
  
  
• No pets allowed. Thank you for your cooperation!

For those who wish to register for either the Scamper or the Stroll on race day, please come to the new Burnsville Town Center [map] by 8:30 a.m. Remember, registration fees on the day of the Scamper and Stroll are $20.00, and you are not guaranteed a t-shirt if you register on that day.
